Additional Information:
Advanced Legal Training Institute’s
new, 3-part seminar series on the 2010 Tax Relief Act (the “New Tax Law”) signed by President Obama on December 17, 2010, provides a comprehensive and useful explanation of what practitioners need to consider for planning, drafting and administering trusts and estates in 2011 and beyond. This seminar series offers you a chance to get the tools, techniques, advice and training that you need right now to draft, implement and administer your clients’ estate plans. This seminar series, upon completion, will answer your questions regarding the changes in the income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping tax changes made by the “New Tax Law”.

Our presenter, Frank Doyle, will inform you of both the benefits and the traps presented by the “New Tax Law” so that you can better protect yourself in drafting plans as well as better serve your clients. This 3-part live seminar series is designed so that you can study the estate planning and administration implications of the “New Tax Law” in a comfortable, interactive classroom setting where your individual questions will be answered.

This 1-day seminar includes an introduction and overview of the “New Tax Law” as it pertains to decedents who died in 2010, you will learn about the interplay between the federal estate tax system and the “step up” in basis rules for income tax purposes. Additionally, you will get an overview of the implications of the “New Tax Law” on existing estate plans. We will review both the opportunities and traps pertaining to lifetime gifts made in 2010 and the implications of the “New Tax Law” on gifts made in 2011.

We will discuss what estate planning techniques are still available in the wake of the “New Tax Law” and how to do Generation-Skipping-Tax planning for 2011 and 2012. Finally, we will review the implications of the potential temporary (2-yr) term of the “New Tax Law”. The program is divided into three parts as follows:

Part 1:
“Introduction to Estate Planning & Administration
Under the ‘New Tax Law’

Part 2:
“Drafting Estate Plans in View of the ‘New Tax Law’

Part 3:
“Administrating Estates & Trusts Under the ‘New Tax Law’ “

During the final part of the  seminar you will learn how to develop, prepare and draft specific provisions under the “New Tax Law”. We will provide the forms and the opportunity for you to have a hands-on, interactive practice session to learn the tools you need to know  in order to draft effective estate planning documents under the “New Tax Law”. In addition, the seminar will consider the effect of repeal on existing estate planning documents. Among the issues that will be reviewed including interpretation issues, state law fixes, effect of retroactive reinstatement of the estate and GST taxes and specific provisions, which require modification. Learn how to draft and work successfully with these important changes to protect your clients.
